What’s the Bare Minimum I Should Be Doing on LinkedIn?
I get this question all the time.
And it usually comes from the same people who swear they “don’t have time.”
Yet…
- 56 minutes/day on TikTok
- 31 minutes on Facebook
- 7 minutes on LinkedIn

If you’re job-hunting, building a business or simply want to create more opportunities, then you have to stop doomscrolling and start investing that time in your professional future.
You don’t need to become a “thought leader.”
You don’t need to post daily.
But you do need to show up.
The Bare Minimum That Sets You Apart
You don’t need to be a content superstar to stand out – just doing the bare minimum puts you ahead of most people.
Here’s why:
1. Consistency Builds Credibility
“Taking consistent action is the bare minimum, but almost nobody does it. Be one of the ones who does.” – Dean Elkholy
✅ Weekly presence matters. It says:
- I’m active
- I’m responsive
- I’m paying attention
It’s not about perfection – it’s about patterns.
2. Visibility Earns Trust
In B2B, first impressions happen silently – long before you ever get a call or email.
✅ Did you know:
- 70% of buyers do their own research before contacting vendors
- 84% go with the first vendor they talk to
- They consume 13+ pieces of content along the way
You can’t win if you’re invisible.
✅ 3. No Contact Info = No Opportunities
Just last week, a client came to me with a job opportunity. They had found a promising candidate on LinkedIn – someone using the “Open to Work” banner.
But… she didn’t include an email address. No phone. No contact button. Nothing.
I didn’t know her personally, so I messaged our 10 mutual connections.
None of them had her contact info either.
She missed out on a real opportunity… because she wasn’t reachable. Don’t let that be you.
✅ 4. What “Bare Minimum” Actually Looks Like
Here’s your Weekly Non-Negotiables:
- Log-in to LinkedIn daily. Only 11% of LinkedIn users do that.
- Invest 5 minutes scrolling through your feed and liking people’s content. Then comment on just 1. Comments drive 80%+ of visibility, especially for professionals without massive followings.
That’s it. It takes less than 6 minutes/day – and will make you more visible than 90% of your peers.
✅ 5. Compounding > Viral
Stop thinking ‘viral.’ LinkedIn wins don’t go viral.
They start with consistency – and compound over time:
- Someone visits your profile
- Weeks later, they DM you
- Months later, you’re asked to speak, pitch, consult or collaborate
No marathon starts with a sprint.
You crawl before you walk before you run.
This is no different.
✅ 6. Fully Optimized (Completed) LinkedIn Profile
A fully built-out profile says: “I’m here. I’m ready. I’m committed.”
It shows:
- You’re active and engaged
- You care about your professional presence
- You’ve put in the work—and that builds trust before a conversation even starts
Additionally,
➡️ Only 10–15% of users have a fully optimized profile
➡️ Complete profiles get 40x more opportunities
➡️ It boosts your visibility, searchability and credibility
If your profile looks half-assed, people assume your effort is too.
Finish it. Own it. Signal that you’re in the game.
Final Thought
If you do the bare minimum consistently, you will stand out.
You don’t need a fancy funnel or a perfect strategy. You just need to show up, respond and be reachable.
Doors open when you’re visible.
Opportunities come when you’re consistent.
So… what’s the one small action you’ll take this week?
