Are Your Posts Creating Noise—or Moving People Forward?
Let’s start with a clarifying question: Are your posts creating awareness—or are they just creating noise?
Because those are not the same thing.
Most marketing today is optimized for visibility. Post more. Show up often. Stay top of feed.
But visibility alone doesn’t move people through the funnel.
When content isn’t tied to value, it may create awareness—but it stalls there. And that’s how awareness turns into noise.
Awareness, Consideration, Purchase (Why Signal Matters)
My sales funnel is simple: Awareness → Consideration → Purchase (or commitment)
Here’s where most people get stuck. They generate awareness… but never earn consideration.
Why?
Because consideration is built on credibility. And credibility is built through signal, not volume.
Visibility Isn’t the Same as Being Seen
Anyone can be visible. You can:
- Post every day
- Jump on trends
- Share announcements and motivational quotes
- Polish your personal brand
That’s visibility.
Being seen is different. Being seen means:
- Your thinking is recognized
- Your expertise is trusted
- Your reputation carries weight
- People understand how you think—not just what you do
Being seen happens when people associate your name with insight, not activity.
Noise vs. Signal (The Difference That Matters)
Noise is attention-seeking without value. It often sounds like:
- “Big announcement coming…”
- “So proud to share…”
- Generic motivation with no context
- Self-promotion without perspective
Noise isn’t always intentional. But it’s usually ego-forward instead of value-forward.
Noise may create a moment of awareness. It rarely creates credibility.
Signal is value-creating. Signal sounds like:
- “Here’s what I’ve learned…”
- “Here’s a pattern I keep seeing…”
- “Here’s what most people miss…”
- “Here’s how I think about this problem…”
Signal comes from experience. From pattern recognition. From doing the work long enough to have something worth sharing.
Signal doesn’t shout. It compounds.
Why Signal Moves People from Awareness to Consideration
This is where most content strategies break. They assume awareness comes from volume.
But real awareness—the kind that leads to consideration—comes from signal.
When you consistently add value:
- You earn attention instead of demanding it
- You build credibility instead of chasing engagement
- You create curiosity instead of fatigue
People don’t remember how often you post. They remember how you made them think.
Purchase Isn’t About Being Loud
People don’t buy because you were loud. They buy because you reduced risk.
Trust reduces friction. Credibility accelerates decisions. And credibility is built through signal—over time.
A Quick Word on Personality and Shtick
Personality is good. Style is human. A recognizable voice helps.
But shtick without substance has a short shelf life.
When performance replaces perspective:
- The content hollows out
- The bar keeps moving higher
- The audience senses it
Personality should amplify insight—not replace it.
Where Digital Validation Actually Lives
Digital Validation™ doesn’t come from being louder. It comes from being clearer.
It’s the slow, consistent accumulation of signal:
- Proof of how you think
- Evidence of what you know
- Context around your experience
Social proof isn’t something you declare. It’s something others infer—over time.
Before You Post, Ask This
Before you hit “publish,” pause and ask:
- Is this creating signal—or just adding to the noise?
- Does this move someone closer to consideration?
- Would someone understand my expertise from this?
- If someone found this six months from now, would it still matter?
Visibility is easy. Being seen is earned.
And in a noisy world, that difference matters more than ever.

And as always —
